Ministry of Energy, Sri Lanka has decided to appoint a committee to review the RE projects proposed by Adani Group totaling up to 484 MW in Mannar and Pooneryn in northern part of the island.
It is clear that proposed tariff by the developer is bit at the higher end compared to the regional tariff in similar scale of projects.
Further to its high tariff, proposal came to the picture in media cited by so-called G-G mechanism. Therefore the legality of the proposal according to both Electricity Act and Regulatory Act is also a question to be resolved, the sources added.
However NPP, the ruling party has identified and geared to proceed in a rapid RE transition in Mannar-Pooneryn belt. The 50 MW next Mannar wind plant is to be commenced and another 2*50 MW Wind Plants in same terrain to be procured through international competitive bidding in 2025:Q1.
