All set to sign the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of Surya Danavi 120 MW Solar Farm at Santhosapuram in East-Coast of Sri Lanka, tomorrow (April 1st) between National Thermal Power Corporation of India (NTPC) and Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB)
This is a significant renewable energy addition project led by Trincomalee Power Company Limited (TPCL), a joint venture between NTPC and CEB, with a 50:50 partnership at Muthur DS Division in Trincomalee District.
Addition of 120 MW will be in two phases: The phase 1 will involve the installation of a 50 MW solar plant, along with 37 km of 220 kV transmission lines connecting Sampur to Kappalthurai and the phase 2 will add another 70 MW of solar capacity and 77 km of transmission lines extending from Kappalthurai to New Habarana.
With the new government leadership under the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the unit tariff was re-negotiated to 5.97 US Cents, this tariff is including a battery storage for ramping correction for intermittency in solar rays.
