The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval for the submission of the Annual Economic Analysis for 2024 compiled by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) to the Parliament, following a proposal presented by President Anura kumara Dissanayaka, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies.
This move is in line with Section 80(3) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Act, No. 16 of 2023, which mandates that the Minister responsible for the subject of Finance must submit a comprehensive report on the economic status of the country for the preceding financial year. This submission must take place within four months of the conclusion of each financial year.

Accordingly, the Central Bank has finalized and handed over its Annual Economic Review for the year 2024 to the President. This report serves as a crucial document reflecting the macroeconomic trends, performance of the financial system, and key developments in monetary and fiscal policy over the past year. It also includes an evaluation of the policy measures undertaken by the CBSL, their impact on the economy, and the overall financial stability of the country.
The forthcoming presentation to Parliament will allow lawmakers to review and deliberate on the economic trajectory of the nation as outlined by the Central Bank. It is also expected to enhance transparency and accountability in the management of Sri Lanka’s financial and economic policies during a year that witnessed both domestic challenges and global economic shifts.
