Exclusive with Sri Lankan President: China puts the people first
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stressed the profound history of China’s development achievements and the importance of people’s unity in an interview with CMG. He pointed out that the friendly relationship between China and Sri Lanka goes back to ancient times and the two sides have had exchanges in trade for thousands of years. He said he looked forward to pushing Sri Lanka-China relations to a new stage through his visit to the country.
Since the signing of the Rubber-Rice Pact in 1952 and the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1957, through to the elevation of the bilateral relations to a strategic cooperative partnership in 2013, China and Sri Lanka have supported each other on issues involving core interests and major concerns. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG’s He Yanke sat down with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake who paid a state visit to China from January 14 to 17.
